USA 20 x 2,50,100 Dollars 1860's Reprints/restrikes UNCUT sheet of 4 notes.
These in obsolete catalogue has SERIES of this notes from The Traders Bank of Richmond LISTED as REPRINT. The Reason that one can ONLY get the reprints for this series is because of The CIVIL WAR. Right before the Civil War,The Bank ordered from The American Bank Note Company,this series of NOTES to be PRINTED FOR THEM. The PLATES WERE MADE and APPROVED and the notes ordered. The American Civil War started and The ABNC decided that it was located in the North so it could not supply The Southern Banks with these notes, so the notes were not printed by The ABNC even though they had the PLATE for them and The AUTHORIZATION.
At the end of the Ware, The Bank, which was in Richmond was DESTROYED and CEASED BUSINESS. In The 1960' the ORIGINAL BANKNOTE PLATE FOR THESE NOTES WAS SOLD by The ABNC. The BUYER then had an old time PRINTER, with a screw PRESS and The ORIGINAL PLATES make The RESTRIKES of The SHEET, one at the time, so the notes are from the ORIGINAL PLATE just as the ABNC would have PRINTED them. Since they were NEVER ISSUED,
THEY ARE ONLY CATALOGUED as RESTRIKES.
We bought these in THE late 1970's a few sheets and we bought all. These are very interesting notes from a very VERY HISTORIC TIME.
