  • Condition: Very good condition for age with no chips or cracks. Has had some pewter added to inside top of lid (to keep finial straight I'm guessing).

    Description

    Hauber and Reuther, etched pottery stein in very good condition with no chips or cracks (although pewter has been added to inside top of lid I'm guessing to make sure finial does not get bent but not really sure).  0.5L stein with translated text of "We did not drink too much, and are still standing straight.  If you have to stagger homeward, it's only harmful for the beer." The monkey and tomcat are reportedly German symbols for excessive drinking and a hangover respectively.  The fish which the monkey appears to be defending itself with is a pickled herring, a cure for hangovers.  Great rare old stein.  Please review photos as they are part of description and message me with any questions.  I am open to reasonable offers.
